Processed food is bad for your health

A high-fat, processed food diet can trigger the onset of memory loss in humans after only four weeks. This is according to a study conducted by researchers.
This study focused on how a poor diet can affect the development and function of the brain in older rats. It demonstrated that the rodents’ brains are similar to those of humans.
The study mimicked the packaged food industry’s most popular products, which often have long shelf lives.
The rapid emergence of these effects is very alarming. A study conducted on the consumption of processed food revealed that it can cause temporary memory deficits and that rapid decline in memory can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.
Some of the rats that were on the processed diet also received a supplement of DHA.
Young mice fed a processed diet did not show signs of cognitive deficits or brain inflammation.
The link between processed food and Australia’s increasing prevalence of obesity was examined in detail. In 2018, the country’s obesity rate was estimated to be 31 per cent.
The link between food additives and the brain’s development seems to have caught the attention of a lot of people.
Older rodents that ate a processed diet had a higher concentration of genes related to inflammation. The study, which used a mouse model, linked the increased inflammation to the consumption of fatty acids.
The processed diet led to memory loss in the older rats. These mice might have trouble remembering details in the hippocampus, which is a part of the brain that processes information.
They also failed to show an aversion to danger behavior, which suggests that their brains have abnormalities. The poor diet also left them vulnerable to a potential threat.
It has been suggested that the DHA in processed food diets can prevent the development of memory loss and the inflammation in the brain.
These results are not a license to feast on processed food.People should start consuming more fruits and vegetables and less processed food to prevent age-related inflammation.

Wesfarmers updates the market

Westfarmers have a wide assortment of major Australian and New Zealand retailers and this month they updated the market on how they have been performing during some of the most difficult times retail has ever seen.
Wesfarmers are owners of retailers such as Kmart, Catch and Target. As expected during these times, the best performer of the group was Catch, the online pureplay. In fact, Catch experienced a mammoth spike in sales of 68.7% at the end of May. If you would like to purchase from Catch, use a Catch coupon code with your order.
Other stores that have done well during the Covid pandemic are hardware stores and office supply stores of which Wesfarmers own the two biggest ones, Office Works and Bunnings. During this period, Officeworks recorded a sales increase of 27.8% and Bunnings jumped by 19.2%.
Kmart did not perform as well during this period with sales positively steady at 4.1%. Target was a negative spot in the group with a drop of 1.8%. Although these stores performed relatively well, there is a high degree of caution and a slightly negative outlook as the low consumer confidence and job losses is expected to slow growth long term.
The digital space seems to be the way to get future growth with many now choosing to shop online rather than venture out into public areas.

In fact, many were to the point where they were overwhelmed and anxious about their current position. The seriousness of the concerns was reflected in the forty percent of respondents who said that they were stretched but coping with the current situation.
